8th grade year

Last summer was life changing in many ways. I was going to be starting the 8th grade first of all which made me nervous, happy and sad at the same time. It was also that summer that I got in a boating accident which put me in the hospital. After various tests we found out I had fractured my skull and bruised my brain resulting in a concussion. I was restricted from jumping, swimming under water, going on roller coasters, heading a ball in soccer and other things. These were things I was planning to do in the coming year but were not going to happen.

I remember the first day of kindergarten. I was excited because  I saw familiar faces and new people. I had been at the school since preschool and I felt pretty confident in starting a new year. I made so many new friends that year and was even more confident going forward. I knew that every year the 8th grade class graduated and had a big ceremony for it. I was always wowed by this and couldn’t wait for that to be me.

As the years rolled by so many memories were made and the friendship I had with my class only got stronger. My friends  always put me in a good mood. We were and still are a family. This year I have a lot of memories. Early this year we went to retreat with a couple other schools. We had to make a pyramid and do a cheer. I just remember having a lot of fun as we struggled to get on top of the human structure. We also went to the Exploratorium and we went into the tactile dome. At first I freaked out like crazy but then I realized it was super fun.

So graduation is here. For me, its happening tomorrow. Our parents say we are ready to start high school and take the next step in our lives. I’m not sure if I’m ready or not to move on. It”s a big step to go from elementary to high school. This is the end of my time here.  I once heard that every story has end but in life every end is just a new beginning. And to that end.

Its important to write essays for school even if someone already has written something like it or if you can copy or paste

25 Apr

Writing essays are part of the reason we go to school. We learn to read and write at a young age and as we get older we learn the basics of writing an essay or report. It is important to know how to write an essay because if you want to go to collage you might have to write and essay to get in. If that is the case and all you have ever done for writing one is to copy and paste you wont have the practice or experience of writing an essay or report etc.

The main reason our parents send us to school is to get educated. I think getting an education should be required for everyone. It is a part of our society’s lifestyle. It is unacceptable for people these days can take advantage of  today’s technology for cheating on work.  No matter what new computers or technology comes out I think it is just best if we keep writing essays the way we always have. Either writing them or typing them.

If students cannot be trusted they should write their essays. And as a teacher I would require students to put a bibliography on their essays so they have proof as to where they got their info. Also to make sure they didn’t plagiarize work.
